12 slabs: 0% up to Rs. 400,000 a year, then 2%, 5%, 10%, 12.5%, 15%, 17.5%, 20%, 22.5%, 25%, 27.5%, with 30% on income above Rs. 7,000,000. Each rate applies only to the income inside its slab.
From 1 July 2015 to 30 June 2016, under the Finance Act 2015. Employers use them for the monthly deduction under section 149 in that period, and they are the rates for the return for that tax year.

A resident individual whose salary was more than 50% of taxable income. Below that share, the rates for non-salaried individuals applied instead.
What changed from 2014-15
The Finance Act 2015 cut the rate on income between Rs. 400,000 and Rs. 500,000 from 5% to 2%, which lowered the fixed amount in every slab above it by Rs. 3,000.
